Oakover Grounds
Oakover Winery is family owned and operated business that has diversified over recent years and is also known as Oakover Grounds. The diversified offerings include a variety of casual foods, Oakover wines, specialised coffee and a range of craft beers and cider. These can be enjoyed in the rustic interior or in the surrounding grounds.
The venue also supports a variety of special event days when it suspends regular trading.
It produces one of the best ranges of wine available in the Swan Valley – great wine, great value is our assessment of Oakover. There is always a case in our cellar.
Over recent years the venue has expanded its offerings and now hosts some wonderful valley festival and market days. Fiori Coffee has moved in and a new and expanded tasting room recently opened offers a range of casual eating options and cafe fare. The restaurant still operates for great value a la carte dining.
The maturing landscaping around the lake is adding character to the venues appearance and better photography options for wedding groups.
Wine tours at Oakover Winery
Oakover wines are well crafted good value wines. The winery continues to produce a full range of wines that will accommodate all tastes and budgets.
The new tasting room and cellar door makes it even easier to sample this great range of wines.
Lunches at Oakover Winery
Oakover winery restaurant has long been one of the great value dining destinations in the Swan valley. The a la carte menu offers well made food at a very affordable price. It has become one of the most popular family dining venues in the valley. With beers available on tap as well as their range of in-house wines there is something for everybody.
Due to its popularity the food wait time (especially for later lunch sittings) can stretch over an hour for large groups eating ordering multiple courses. If you are intending to choose Oakover for a lunch venue whilst on a weekend wine tour it will be wise to allow two hours at the venue and order your lunch on arrival before heading for a wine tasting.
Limousine access to the winery
Stretch Chrysler limousines and our classic wedding cars have no access problems on a regular day at Oakover Winery. The large car park has generous turning circles and ample space to find accommodation for stretch limousines during a visit.
Special festival days
As noted earlier, on Oakover festival days and special winery lunch days the winery is closed for casual tasting visits and restaurant bookings. The venue attracts 100’s of patrons on festival days and of-course parking becomes a headache on those days.
Weddings at Oakover Winery
Oakover is a one room wedding reception venue in the evenings. They specialise in long-table rustic weddings. The benefit is the privacy the venue offers your wedding party being set back from the Great Northern Highway there is little risk of drive in intruders. For couples seeking an ‘all at one venue’ wedding, the ceremonies are most often conducted by the lake.
The reception area opens onto the grounds enabling guests the freedom to move easily between the areas if suited to your wedding plans.
Guest parking
Guest parking at weddings is never a problem at Oakover Winery (excepting on festival days). Even large wedding guest groups can spill onto the surrounding grounds if necessary.
End of night get-aways
Attracting on-demand services (short notice taxis and Uber services) can be a problem at the end of a wedding. On-call cars accumulate where they will get lots of frequent hires at Crown Casino, Perth city and the airport. A few will be dropping off in the Swan Valley, however, most weddings, hotels and entertainment venues wind up between 11.00pm and midnight. When you consider that there may be twenty or more weddings in the Swan Valley on any night you realise that short call services quickly run out. We often see frustrated guests walking from Oakover to the highway in the hope that they can flag down a stray taxi because they do not respond promptly to short call bookings (if at all).
A pre-booked chauffeur car is recommended for the bride and groom and important guests like parents and grandparents (if they are likely to be drinking). Buses are a popular alternative for transporting wedding guests to a central location.
