Kings Park Perth
Kings Park is a wonderful refuge of botanic gardens and native bush overlooking the Swan River in inner city Perth. It has a few notable businesses including Frasers Restaurant and the State Function Centre as well as several pavilions that have become popular wedding ceremony locations. In recent years it has also become home to many summer concerts in the park.
Wedding locations in Kings Park
Dryandra Lookout
This small pavilion on the southern end of Forrest Drive gets little use for weddings even though it has one of the best views in the park. It is a spectacular location for small weddings and should be considered if the other venues are booked on your chosen date.
Frasers Restaurant and the State Function Centre
Frasers Restaurant is a long time favourite wedding reception venue. When the expanded top floor became the State Function Centre it quickly became one of Perth’s premier venues for large wedding receptions. With spectacular Perth city and Swan River views and access to the park for guests before the reception the venue has a lot to offer.
Kaarta Gar-up Lookout
The Kaarta Gar-up lookout is built over the Aboriginal Art Gallery. It is a popular lookout and photo location for tourists and students stopping over on the way to their school ball. We recently assisted with a wedding ceremony held on the lookout. It was fantastic.
Marlee Pavilion
The Marlee Pavilion in the Roe Gardens is a relatively new pavilion that has rapidly become a favoured wedding ceremony location. With panoramic river views and a private position in the park, the Marlee Pavillion has a lot to offer couples.
Mt Eliza House
Mount Eliza House is a beautiful federation cottage in possibly Perth’s most exclusive location. Offering views across the Swan River and the Perth city skyline the venue offers a private and quite unique opportunity as a reception venue.
Old Tea Pavilion
The Old Tea Pavilion is the more well known wedding ceremony location. Possibly because of its location on Fraser Avenue and the high visibility of ceremonies at the location.

Concerts in Kings Park
Concerts in Kings Park are usually at the Botanic Garden lawn. On concert nights much of Kings Park will have restricted access. Chauffeur cars and chartered limousines do get priority access and parking when delivering patrons to the concert and again for the return transfer. Parking is always congested on concert nights and a one to two kilometre walk to the concert is not unusual.
School balls in Kings Park
Many large schools hold their school ball at the State Function Centre. Kings Park is also the favourite photo stop over for school ball limos on their way to other ball venues. Most Friday and Saturday nights from 6.00 – 7.30pm expect to see a huge number of stretch limousines on Fraser Avenue with 100’s of students roaming the area looking for photo opportunities.
Parking in Kings Park
Dryandra Lookout
Dryandra Lookout has a small parking area suitable for several cars. If you have a larger number of guest cars they will need to park carefully along the road verge. If using Dryandra Lookout for your wedding ceremony it is always wise to assign a guest to reserve a parking space for your wedding transport so you don’t end up with a long walk or trying to dodge passing traffic as you exit the bridal car.
DNA Tower Lookout
DNA Tower is mainly used for photography sessions following the wedding ceremony and has ample parking for that purpose except on Kings Park concert days when the area will be closed off as part of the concert traffic management.
Frasers Restaurant
Frasers Restaurant is situated beside the main car park located behind the building and will have available parking on most days. On concert and event days the car park will be restricted to event parking and access is not always possible. If you have a wedding at Frasers Restaurant on a concert day it will be wise to ask the venue about parking for your guests and alert your guests to the delays that may be experienced when they arrive for the ceremony or reception. Spill over parking is along the roads through Kings Park and may stretch for a kilometre from the venue on concert nights.
Kaarta Gar Lookout
Kaarta gar lookout is a favourite photo location for weddings groups and school ball students. We have also assisted at a few wedding ceremonies at the location.
Parking for wedding guests along Fraser Avenue is limited and guests will need to park in the Old Tea Pavilion car park or the main car park behind Frasers Restaurant and walk to the location which means they will need to arrive at least 10 minutes before the ceremony. For an elegant wedding entrance, have a guest arrive early and reserve parking along Fraser Avenue for your wedding cars if you are using this ceremony location.
Marlee Pavilion
Marlee Pavilion next to the Roe Gardens is a popular wedding ceremony location. There is parking for 20 – 30 cars in the immediate area but much of this will be used by casual visitors to Kings Park. Guest will often need to park along the road verges near the location. As with most Kings Park locations it is wise to assign a guest to supervise parking near the ceremony location and reserve parking for the bridal cars so the group doesn’t have a long walk and the limousines are there when you are ready to depart.
Mount Eliza House
Mount Eliza House has very limited parking within the venue and it should be restricted to your wedding cars and possibly one or two special guests’ cars. Parking for the venue is in the Old Tea Pavilion car park and if this is busy with casual family picnic transport then your guests will need to park along Fraser Avenue or even in the main car park and walk to Mount Eliza House.
Old Tea Pavilion
The Old Tea Pavilion car park has sufficient room for the guests that would normally attend a wedding but it is also a popular parking place for people attending family picnics so it is occupied at most times during the afternoon and early evening. If your guests can not find a parking space in this car park they will most likely need to park in the main car park and walk back to the Old tae pavilion.
Pioneer Womens’ Memorial
This is a popular location for concerts and events but also the occasional wedding ceremony. There is limited parking adjacent to the garden area so most guests at a wedding ceremony here will need to park in the main car park or along the adjacent road verges as permitted.
Rotunda 1
Parking for Rotunda 1 is in the main car park behind Frasers Restaurant. Guests will need to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to a wedding ceremony to ensure they have time to find a parking space and stroll to the rotunda.
Rotunda 2
Rotunda 2 is the least used of the wedding ceremony locations but is perhaps the most private because of the significant walk involved to get there. Guests will usually park in the main car park behind Frasers Restaurant and should allow around 20 minutes to park and walk to the rotunda.
Wildflower Pavilion
The Wildflower Pavilion has the largest undercover area if you want to use Kings Park for a ceremony but fear the possibility of rain. It is next to the Boab tree car park which can accommodate around 20 cars. These are frequently used by casual visitors to Kings Park too so many guests will need to park in the main car park and walk to the ceremony location.
Parking in Kings Park
Dryandra Lookout
Dryandra Lookout is best approached from Frasers Avenue and along Forrest Drive so you can pull into the car park without needing a three point turn. If the car park is full you will need to double park to drop-off and drive further along the road to find parking on the verge. If you are in a Chrysler limousine there is no easy way to turn around near the location so it may be easier to drive around the park and park just before the venue so you are conveniently located when the group are ready to depart.
DNA Tower Lookout
DNA Tower is mainly used for wedding photography. The small car park usually has space for casual parking.
Frasers Restaurant
Frasers Restaurant and the State Function centre is one of Perth’s most popular wedding reception locations. See notes dedicated to weddings at these venues on the Frasers Restaurant page of the website.
Kaarta Gar Lookout
Kaarta gar lookout is a favourite photo location for weddings groups and school ball students. We also assist with wedding ceremonies here.
Approach the location from the city end of Fraser Avenue and hopefully there will be parking next to the location (especially for wedding ceremony drop-offs). If there is no parking available you will need to double park for the wedding drop-off then move along Fraser Avenue or to the main car park for parking.
On school ball nights any parking along Fraser Avenue is fine and the students can walk to the lookout for photos if they wish.
Marlee Pavilion
Marlee Pavilion next to the Roe Gardens is best approached from the Fraser Avenue / city end of Kings Park. The wedding ceremony drop-off location is just past the Roe Gardens parking bays. Brides usually walk to the ceremony from the Roe Gardens entrance.
Mount Eliza House
Mount Eliza House is located at the top of the car park behind the Old Tea Rooms pavilion. There is sufficient parking space for the classic wedding cars and small limousines but no turning space for Chrysler limousines. If you have not visited Eliza house for a wedding it will be worth checking it out the next time you are near Kings Park.
The Old Tea Rooms or Pines car park appears quite spacious but becomes very congested on most afternoons and can become a trap for stretch limousines. Be careful before entering this car park with a Chrysler limousine on a Saturday afternoon and avoid it on a school ball night.
Old Tea Pavilion
The Old Tea Rooms or Pines car park appears quite spacious when empty, but can be very difficult to turn a stretch limousine in on most afternoons when the car park is busy. Be careful before entering this car park with a Chrysler limousine on a Saturday afternoon and avoid it on a school ball night.
Pioneer Womens’ Memorial
There is a drop-off bay at the top of the lawn which can also be used for bridal car parking if the cars are supervised. This drop-zone is usually the one used for charter vehicles during concerts and events at the location.
Rotunda 1
Drop-off for a Rotunda 1 wedding ceremony is at the round-a-bout in fromnt of Frasers restaurant Drive to the main car park for parking after the drop-off.
Rotunda 2
The Rotunda 2 is at the Boab tree round-a-bout. Drive to the main car park for parking and remember to give the couple a card with your contact number so they can alert you when they wished to be collected. Some couples will walk to the Roe Garden car park from Rotunda 2 after the wedding ceremony.
Wildflower Pavilion
The Wildflower Pavilion drop-off is also at the Boab tree round-a-bout. Drive to the main car park for parking and remember to give the couple a card with your contact number so they can alert you when they wished to be collected.
