South Perth Foreshore
The South Perth foreshore is a popular photo stop for weddings and school ball limousines. With easy access to the riverside and stunning views back over the Swan River to the city lights at night and the bridges it is easy to compose a range of photo styles.
Limousine and wedding car access to the South Perth foreshore
Several locations are popular for weddings and photography along the South Perth foreshore including:
Mends Street Jetty
For couples using the Mends Street Jetty as a photo location or to connect with a boat the adjacent car park is suitable for classic wedding cars or small limousines. Larger Chrysler limos will need to drop off on the South Perth Esplanade near the jetty and move further along the Esplanade to find parking (if needed later on).
Sir James Mitchell Park
The large park can be accessed from the Mends Street Jetty end (which is also used for the Scented Gardens) or the Coode Street Jetty end (near the Boatshed Restaurant). Both ends of the park have a car park which can be used by stretch limousines as well traditional wedding cars. Couples wanting to be driven onto the park to a wedding ceremony or marquee reception location or just some unrestricted shots with wedding cars beside the Swan River will need to organise permission and access to the appropriate gate for the day. The local authority have been easy to deal with for wedding requests from our experience.
South Perth Esplanade
Parking along the South Perth Esplanade is usually easy. On busy days larger stretch limousines may struggle to find a long enough space near where you wish to stop for photos. The small jetty near the western end of the Esplanade is popular. If your limo needs to drive further along the road to park your chauffeur will give you a phone contact to ring a few minutes before you need to be collected again.
The Boatshed Restaurant / Coode Street Jetty
The jetty next to the Boatshed Restaurant at the end of Coode Street is also popular for sunset photography overlooking the Perth city lights. On special days a violet hue reflects of the water creating spectacular pictures with a city lights background.
The Narrows Bridge
The Narrows Bridge is popular with Perth photographers. The symmetries of the concrete bridges from underneath and the shaded environment in the middle of the day. Most days wedding cars can find an area under the bridge to park, however on some peak wedding Saturdays there may be several weddings turn up around the same time which can mean waiting to capture the treasured locations under the bridge.
The Scented Gardens
The Scented Gardens are at the western end of Sir James Mitchell Park. The nested group of trees and landscaping is popular for wedding ceremonies and we have also assisted with a few wedding receptions in the Scented Garden. Set back a few hundred metres from the river the location is private and sheltered from strong winds
