Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
The Perth Convention Centre (PCEC) is home to 100’s of exhibitions, themed expos, conventions and charity balls every year. Over the past few years it is also being used to house large weddings. For the uninitiated it can be an adventure in itself just finding the location of you event – especially if in one of the smaller rooms in the venue. It is certainly worth researching the location of your function room before arriving at the venue.
Rooms vary from intimate theatres through to exhibition spaces that can cater for 1000’s of people simultaneously. On busy days with two or more popular expos and events on the centre is bustling with people.
Weddings at PCEC
The eastern end of the convention centre houses the BelleVue ballrooms, BelleVue Lounge, River Vier Room and Summer Garden can accommodate a wedding ranging from eighty to a thousand guests. No other venue in Perth can cater for such large numbers of guests indoors.
E-Bridal Wedding Expo
We attend the E-Bridal Wedding Expos at Perth Convention Centre which is usually held in Pavilions 4 & 5. The next wedding expo is on the weekend 12-13 September 2015.
Limousine access to PCEC
Limousine and chauffeur car access for dropping off at all events is via an access ramp from the bottom of Mill Street Perth. For mysterious reasons the government of the day made the access ramp obscure with a slight left turn needed the bottom of Mill Street it is easy to deviate into the bus port or miss the turn and end up in the car park. The less than grand entry drive is like a concrete tunnel which passes under the Adina Hotel before emerging at the entrance foyer to the Perth Convention Centre. The entry is adjacent to the exhibition pavilions. If you are requiring the theatres or ballrooms you will need to walk east through the convention centre.
At the end of a ball or wedding when several hundred people may emerge at the same time the arrival deck cannot park more than 10 – 15 limousines so if you have chartered a chauffeur car or limousine it may be grid locked on the access ramp or in Mill Street waiting for the initial group of vehicles occupying the arrival deck to receive their guests and depart. Patience is required especially when a large concert or ball group exit at one time.
When picking up from a ball at the Perth Convention Centre Belle Limousines usually targets arriving 20-30 minutes before the pick-up time to secure a parking spot at the top of the arrival / departure zone to enable a prompt pick-up and departure.
