1951 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith
The Belle Classic Rolls Royce Silver Wraith is a rare coach-built limousine with an outstanding history. Built as an exhibition vehicle for the 1951 Earls Court International Motor Show by esteemed body builders James Young the Wraith represents the best that was on offer for the time. It has exquisite walnut burl feature timber work and a spacious rear cabin with divider.
First owned by the renowned Australian opera singer Dame Joan Hammond it moved back to Australia when she retired from professional opera singing in Britain and moved to Melbourne to take up a post as the patron of the Victorian Opera Company.
The Wraith changed hands in the late 1970s and belonged to Perth based Rolls Royce enthusiast Matt Smith who restored her to ‘as new’ condition. So good was the restoration and the integrity of the Wraith it won the best car on show being the overall winner of the Concours d’ Elegance at the 1985 Federal Rolls Royce Rally held in Perth.
