St Georges Cathedral
St Georges Cathedral is one of Perth’s most prestigious wedding locations. The Perth city cathedral has a beautiful interior with a warm atmosphere and can cater for a large number of wedding guests.
The picturesque architecture of the cathedral and surrounding buildings provide many backdrops for family photographs after the ceremony and the new sculpture of St Georges lance and cape adds to the precinct.
Wedding guests should be advised to arrive early for the ceremony so they can find parking in one of the city parking areas and have time to walk to the cathedral.
Wedding cars and limousine access
The only limiting feature of a St Georges Cathedral wedding is guest parking and limousine access for the bridal party. Dedicated parking at the cathedral is limited in front of the Cathedral’s western entrance on Cathedral Avenue. Cathedral Avenue is essential a no through lane way leading to an underground parking area for the surrounding office blocks and limited parking for dropping off to the Como Treasury Hotel and St Georges Cathedral. Wedding cars and limousines can use the area for short term parking but will need to move if instructed to by parking wardens.
Access to Cathedral Avenue from St Georges terrace is straight forward for classic wedding cars and sedans which can in most cases also park adjacent to the cathedral. Sometimes the cathedral staff park in the bays – it might be wise discussing this when you book your wedding at the venue. It is wise to instruct your guests not to park in this area.
Couples who choose stretch Chrysler limousines for their wedding may need to be dropped off on St Georges Terrace if Cathedral Avenue is congested. Stretch limos can turn around easily Cathedral Avenue and reversing into St Georges Terrace is dangerous due to restricted vision caused by the Old Treasury Building. In most cases our stretch Chrysler limos will reverse off St Georges terrace backing up Cathedral Avenue but this may not be possible at every wedding when city traffic can restrict access.
Wedding photos at St Georges Cathedral
The Cathedral precinct offers several aspects of the buildings for a variety of photo opportunities. The wedding photographers usually look for a shady nook on sunny summer days.
