Children in Classic Wedding Cars

There are both legal and ethical issues involved with the question ‘Can children travel without a seat belt?’.

Legally children under 7 must be in a seat belt (with a booster seat for a sash belt) and under 4 in a seat with its own harness. Taxis and buses are exempt because the Government couldn’t afford to fit seat belts to buses if they change the legislation and the taxi loophole because they didn’t want to inconvenience taxi drivers to carry, fit and remove the seats constantly which would hold up the entry and exit of the taxi.

Ethically I don’t want to endanger a child in one of our cars unnecessarily. We will pick up a child a block before a venue for the arrival if desired. Our experience indicates that brides don’t need the added responsibility of looking after the child on the way to the ceremony (even if it is the bride’s children).  The children enjoy the short drive into the ceremony if organised and don’t know the difference (compared to travelling the whole journey) and are excited and settled for the short drive – just what you want.
