Christ the King Church

Christ the King Church in Beaconsfield near Fremantle is a popular community church for weddings. The interior is beautifully designed with stained glass windows creating a timeless atmosphere.

The ornate red brick building is well maintained and sitting on the hill top it has a commanding presence.

A small parking bay adjacent to the church will hold around sixteen cars. Parking on Lefroy Street is not recommended, so for a large wedding many guests may have a short walk to the church from Livingstone Street. Advise your guests to leave the end of Edmund Street (near Lefroy St) clear for limo turning if you are booking a stretch limo.

Wedding limousine access

Whilst the elevated position helps the church to stand out, it also provides some access issues. The drive rises steeply off Lefroy Street (which is quite narrow). This is not an issue for traditional sedan based classic wedding cars but means larger limos cannot turn into the church from Lefroy Street when heading west. Limo access needs to be from Edmunds Street directly into the drive or to have the limo reverse into the drive from Edmunds Street. The drive also has changes in gradient which may cause larger low limos to bottom out. When done well Chrysler limousines sit well at the top of the drop-off zone in the car-park.

The major problem for large limos at the venue is turning around to exit the church. This can be done in with some difficulty in the car park but on wedding days the car park usually fills with the guests cars leaving no access for the limo which will then need to reverse across Lefroy Street to leave the church.

Some drivers of Hummer limos and stretch Chryslers who do not know the church may insist on dropping you at the street verge meaning a walk up the steep drive to enter the church.

It is important to ask guests not to park in the driveway or to restrict access to the driveway when they park before entering the church for the wedding ceremony.

Guest parking at Christ the King Church

There is sufficient parking in the church parking lot for many guests cars.

If you have a large guest list attending the church it will be necessary for many to park in the adjoining streets and walk back to the church. In such cases it is important to ask guests not to park adjacent to the church entry in Mardie Street if you are using a stretched limousine like a Chrysler because they may restrict the turning space available which is necessary to position the limos safely into the church driveway.

Christ the King Church

Christ the King Church has an unusual drive way which is both steep and awkward to access in stretch limousines especially if there is a congestion of parked cars around the entry drive off Lefroy Street. The driveway is also the access to the retirement village behind the church so suitable access will need to be left in case someone needs to enter or leave the complex.

Wedding cars

Classic wedding cars have no problems driving straight into the church drive and parking to let out the wedding party. Smaller cars can also turn around using the entry to the parking area to do a three point turn in the driveway.

The only caution when parking in the steeper part of the driveway is to remember that the Jaguar Mk5 handbrakes may struggle with the very steep drive so ensure that the cars are also in park and use the wheel chock if necessary.

Wedding limousines

Stretch Chrysler limousines cannot use the drive to turn around. If you drive straight into the drive to deliver a wedding party the limo will need to be reversed out during the ceremony and then reversed back into the church driveway so it is in position at the end of the service. This is best achieved by driving into Mardie Street then reversing into the driveway across Lefroy Street.
