University of Western Australia
UWA is one of Perth’s most popular inner city locations for wedding photographs. On a Saturday afternoon during wedding season it is possible for a large collection of classic wedding cars, Chrysler limousines and Hummer limos juggling for parking space near the Hackett Hall entrance car park just off Stirling Highway in Crawley.
The collection of diverse photo backdrops including classic architecture and a variety of garden themes within a close walk of the car park mean that photographers can get a wide range of images very efficiently.
The UWA photography session is a great time to enjoy a bottle of champagne and refreshments. A casual approach to the photo session enables you to have a break before heading to the reception. This is greatly appreciated by the girls in the wedding party who have usually been moving at a fast pace since early in the morning.

The Sunken Garden
UWA is also a popular ceremony location. Especially for couples who met while studying at the university. There are several ceremony locations used, however the Sunken Gardens are the most popular ceremony venue in the university grounds. The entrance is easily accessed off the main entrance car park and it is a short walk to the ceremony location. The sunken garden is a natural amphitheatre so wedding guest all get a great view of the ceremony.
The arched walkway
The arched walkway from the car park to Hackett Hall is so popular there is often three or four wedding parties lined up waiting for their turn. Good photographers manage this with ease taking the opportunity to shoot in the doorways and adjacent grounds.
Hackett hall arches
The Hackett Hall arches behind the reflection pond also creates a beautiful photograph when the camera is with a professional photographer. We have seen a huge number of creative pictures taken across the pond toward the arches.
Various doorways and entrances
Check out our UWA gallery for lots more images taken on the UWA grounds. The random doorways and entrance halls also get used to great effect by wedding photographers.
Wedding limousine access
UWA is easily accessed by all modes of wedding transport. Classic British wedding cars such as Rolls Royce and Jaguar often visit in sets of two or three whilst stretch Chrysler limousines and Hummer limos tend to each bring their own wedding party.
Parking is the issue on a busy wedding afternoon, especially during the photo session peak hours usually between 4.00 – 6.00pm. If the entrance car park is already full when your group arrives the limo chauffeur will usually drop your party near the Hackett Hall lawn and get you to call a few minute before you are due to be picked up. The limos can often park in the car park further into the university. If there is a university function on, and parking is at a premium, the limousines may need to drive out of the university and park on Hackett Drive on the river side of the university waiting for your call.
