Wine tours at Olive Farm and the Cheese Barrel
Olive Farm Wines is one of the oldest continually operating wineries in the Swan Valley. Located directly off the Great Northern Highway it is an easy to locate and popular tour destination. The opening of The Cheese Barrel on the estate as a separate destination for cheese connoisseur offering cafe style meals and matched cheese and wine tasting platters has greatly increased the interest in the venue.

Olive Farm Wines
Olive Farm winery offers a superb range of well crafted wines and liqueurs. There is definitely something for every palate. The cellar door is a modern and stylish room overlooking the barrel room and cellar. It is a pleasure to spend time sampling the wines in this environment.

Whether you prefer whites or reds, sweet or dry, or dessert wines, OFW’s has a full selection to choose from. Most tour groups buy wine here to stock up their home cellar collection.
The Cheese Barrel
The Cheese Barrel operates from a separate building adjacent to the OFW’s cellar door. They are only a short walk apart so most visitors wander through both outlets the first time they drive into the venue. Regular visitors will target their preferred facility. The Cheese Barrel is a favourite of my daughter and friends. They never tire of the regularly changing range of cheeses and matched wines.

While some folks use the Cheese Barrel strictly as a delicatessen, I personally prefer spending time to sample the cheeses and matched wines before selecting my take out delights. The experience comes at a cost but the range of specialty cheeses are rarely stocked in regular Perth stores.

Wine tours at Olive Farm Wines and the Cheese Barrel
Our rule of thumb for groups of 6 – 10 passengers on a wine tour is to allow around 45 minutes to sample a full collection of wines at a winery like Olive farm Wines. If you intend to experience the cheese tasting platter too you will need to allocate at least 45 minutes to enjoy the experience in the relaxed manner it deserves. If you intend for the venue to be a lunch stop be aware that the cheese platter is a significant feeding for many but not enough for many ‘hungry males’ so you may want to order extra here or visit other venues on the day that provide some grazing opportunities.
